My name is Andrew Guest. I graduated from U niversity College Falmouth’s Press & Editorial Photography in 2011, but during my course of study became involved with the wooden boat community there and ultimately “went native”, so to speak – later I was accepted the apprenticeship programme at the Carpenter’s Boat Shop in Pemaquid Maine, in 2012-13.

From 2013 to 2018 I was Mayflower II’s ship’s carpenter, and from 2014 to 2018 I worked predominantly at Mystic Seaport’s Henry B. DuPont Preservation Shipyard on Mayflower II’s multi-year restoration effort.

Also in 2014 I was fortunate enough to be awarded that year’s Ed Monk Scholarship Award by the Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle, Washington – which enabled me to undertake a professional development project on the past, present, and future of Cornish vernacular sailing craft.

Since summer 2017 I have been rebuilding Rosalind, a Cornish lugger - and since summer 2019 I have been the caretaker here at West Mystic Wooden Boat where Rosalind is situated. If you have a restoration project, are interested in a new build, or are looking for specialty timber I’d love to hear from you.
